Chemo #7

Tuesday February 4, 1992

Up early so we can stop at Arco Mortgage on the way to Kaiser, where I have chemo at 11 a.m. I'm in and out in an hour or so. What a surprise? I'm usually there 2-3 hours.

We have lunch at Sizzler and drive by some more houses for Gary.

I have no reaction at all to my chemo. My white blood count is low so I must be careful and watch for fever, cough, etc.

At 7:30 we go to Bill and She's for a Boots & Slippers board meeting. There's a good turnout and lots of good food.

I feel so good I forget to take my anti-nausea pills.

Uh-oh, I hope Mom wasn't sick this night. I wonder why her chemo only took an hour? Did she get less of the chemo drugs than usual?

The Yellow House

Monday February 3, 1992

Already February! Our April cruise in the Carribean will be here soon.

I've got the blahs this morning. Can't get going. I just want to sit but I'm getting my nails done by 11:15 and running errands. My cough seems worse. I'll have the chemo doctor check it tomorrow.

We look at a few more houses for Gary and are more convinced he should buy the yellow house. Gary calls in the evening. He wants to make an offer on the yellow house. We're delighted! We'll all go see it again on Wednesday evening with our realtor.

We go square dancing.

Thanks for sending me a picture of your yellow house, Gary. Yes, he did buy the house, and yes it is still yellow. It looks great with the brick exterior.

One thing Ric and I have never done is take a cruise. Mom and Frank took several over the years, to all kinds of places. Anyone who has taken a cruise care to comment? What was your experience like?

A Perfect House For Gary & Maria

Sunday February 2, 1992

Maria called in the morning to say they were coming to Simi to look at a house. We had slept in and were having a late breakfast. Frank offered to go with them. I found a bunch of homes in our local Sunday paper, made alot of calls, and had several other homes for them to see with a pool, 4+2.

They arrive late but we still have time to see a few and find a perfect house! Food for thought for Gary. They go home about 6 p.m.

Frank and I go to dinner at the new Acapulco Restaurant. I pig out on chips. enchiladas and key lime cheesecake. I refuse to even taste Frank's margarita. I'm afraid of alcohol. It seems to make me feel bad. I have not touched any alcohol for 20 months except New Year's Eve 1991.

My wrist still hurts alot and my thumbs ache too.

Trying to find a 4 bedroom house with a pool will limit their choices somewhat. Gary and I grew up next door to the Gangl family; they had a pool. In sunny Southern California, pools are commonplace. We spent most of the summer swimming next door and my blonde hair was green for 3 months out of the year.
